'Terre' meaning 'Earth' pays homage to the incredible quartz soils of the Swallowfield vineyard. Finely textured chardonnay, will improve over next ten years
Tasting Notes: A blend of Swallowfield vineyard block one I clone, 96 and 76. Fresh and concentrated aromatics. White flowers, almond and citrus. Displaying real elegance, balance and depth. Will continue to improve over the next ten years.
Winemaking Notes: Hand picked on 9th February 2016. Crushed and pressed with full solids to aged oak puncheons, natural primary fermentation with no malolactic fermentation. 10 months on lees in oak puncheons before being racked and blended in preparation for bottling.
Viticultural Notes: Swallowfield vineyard is located in Gembrook, making it the southern-most vineyard in the Yarra Valley. It is situated on an outcrop of Granite soil and these quartz rich soils are perfect for growing pinot noir and chardonnay. 'Terre' translates into 'Earth and pays homage to these incredible soils. 2016 will be remembered as one of the warmest and earliest harvests on record.
