Rochford Single Vineyard 'Dans les Bois' Pinot Noir 2022
RRP: $54.00
Tasting Notes:
This Upper Yarra pinot is filled with aromas of forest florals, red cherries and an evocative volcanic mineral earthy bass note behind the fruit.
The palate is fresh with lively cherry and strawberry fruits, gentle tannin and subtle whole bunch complexities. The warm end to the 2022 vintage with the small yields have given a dynamic pinot that clearly speaks of its Upper Yarra origin.
Winemaking Notes:
Hand-picked on the 9th of March
Vinification & Elevage: The fruit was partially destemmed and fermented as whole berries, with 40% of the fruit in whole clusters. It spent 3 weeks on the skins before being pressed into French oak (20% new) for malolactic conversion. Aged on the lees in oak for 10 months before bottling, with a total production of 170 dozen.
Viticultural Notes:
Pinot Noir clone: MV6 from a single site in Woori Yallock.
The 2022 vintage will be remembered for its smallest yields in a decade, due to challenging flowering conditions in our region of the Yarra Valley. However, the quality of the resulting wines is exceptional, showcasting both concentration and finesse.
