Tasting Notes:
Lifted red plum fruits, lots of pepper and cardamom with some game meat and small goods earthiness. The palate shows plenty of flavour both in fruits and savoury elements. There is great depth and texture to this Shiraz with bunchy notes of dried herb but it's complex with ginger and gravel whilst fresh red fruits provide foundation.
Winemaking Notes:
Handpicked on the 15th and 26th of March
Vinification & Elevage: Partially destemmed as wholes berries with 40% as whole cluster. On skins for 3 weeks, then pressed to aged French oak puncheons and barriques. Racked and bottled after 11 months maturation in oak.
Viticultural Notes:
Low cropped fruit of PT23 Shiraz clone from A and D blocks.
2022 will be remembered for the tiniest yields in a decade resulting from poor flowering conditions in our part of the Yarra Valley. The quality of the resultant wines of this vintage however are outstanding with both concentration and finesse.
