Tasting Notes: Medium Yellow/Straw colour with flashes of green. Peach stone and nectarine fruit aromas with roasted almond kernel and flecks of struck flint. A full and unctuous evolution to the palate with a round, glossy, mouthfeel in the middle. A hint of lime conserve and a fine grained veneer of cold toast oak tones draw the palate out to a long dry finish.
Winemaking Notes: Harvest: Hand-picked on the 5th of March
Vinification & Elevage: Crushed and pressed with full solids straight to French oak (50% new), both primary fermentation and malotaltic were natural. 10 months on lees in oak before being racked in preparation for bottling.
Viticultural Notes: The grapes for this wine are Upper Yarra Valley from Gembrook. Gembrook is known for its volcanic derived red soils on a granite outcrop. These quartz rich soils are perfect for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
This is the third release of our ‘premier‘ single vineyard, single block I clone Chardonnay traditionally that produces the fruit that best represents this site.
The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers in the Yarra Valley. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditions with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines at lower alcohol levels.
