Tasting Notes:
Aromas of river stone, bath salts, jasmine, grapefruit skin and subtle fine grain oak behind the fruits. The palate is a great balance of rich citrus fruits, mineral acidity and gentle phenolics. The finish is long and again 2020 being a cool vintage and this a wine grown in a cool site, this is a wine that’s really lifting off now!
Winemaking Notes:
Hand picked 23rd March
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit was whole bunch pressed to French oak barriques (30% new) for primary fermentation. 50% of the blend underwent malolactic conversion with some occassional lees stirring. 8 months on lees in oak. 220 dozen produced.
Viticultural Notes:
Chardonnay clone I10V5
2020 was long and cool growing season in the Yarra Valley. Winter rains were substanial and by the end of spring we had full and healthy vine canopies. The conditions around flowering were challenging leading to low fruit yields. The season progressed with very mild conditions extending the ripening period for harvest well into Autumn for some varieties. The 2020 wines reflect our part of the world and our cool climate.
