Tasting Notes: This is a Pinot with plenty of appeal; poached strawberries, bright red cherries with rose petal and a whiff of Turkish delight. On the palate cherry fruits are the mainstays with crunchy acid and fine tannins that hold well.
Winemaking Notes:
Harvest: Handpicked from the 4th to the 25th of March
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit is sorted and fully de-stemmed as whole berries, 5 day cold soak prior to primary fermentation on sloms fpr 14 days. Wine is pressed to French oak (10% new) for natural malolactic fermentation and is then sulphured on lees. 9 months on lees in oak.
Viticultural Notes: This wine is made from a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from our Gruyere, Gembrook and Coldstream vineyards.
2020 was a long and cool growing season in the Yarra Valley. Winter rains were substantial and by the end of spring we had full and healthy vine canopies. The conditions around flowering were challenging leading to low fruit yields. The season progressed with very mild conditions extending the ripening period for harvest well into Autumn for some varieties. The 2020 wines reflect our part of the world and our cool climate.
