Rochford Single Vineyard 'Premier' Pinot Noir 2018

RRP: $130.00
Varietal: Pinot Noir 100%
Vintage: 2018
Alcohol: 13.0%
Vegan Wine
Tasting Notes: Aromas of plum fruits, five spice, sage and crushed rock. Dense red and dark fruits combine with earthy reduction and charcuterie. Silky tannins lengthen the palate and show off the positive effects of having a cool site in a warm season.
Winemaking Notes: Harvest: Hand-picked 23rd February
Vinification: Sorted and partly de-stemmed (50% whole bunch), the fruit had a short cold soak. Pressed to French oak (25% new) after natural primary and secondary fermentation and extended maceration on skins.
Elevage: 10 months on lees in French oak before being racked in preparation for bottling. Unfined.
Viticultural Notes: Grown on an ancient high river terrace, these iron rich, deep volcanic soils are unique to our site and it is these rocky soils combined with our forty plus year old vines that are at the heart of this wine.
This is the fourth release of our Single Vineyard Block 4 100% MV6 Pinot Noir Rochford’s Hill Road home vineyard. This vineyard always delivers our best Pinot Noir fruit and is a true expression of Coldstream terroir.
The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers in the Yarra Valley. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditions with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines at lower alcohol levels.
