Tasting Notes: An extraordinary marriage of power and elegance, this remarkable young pinot reveals a pristine, almost fiery bouquet of rose petals, red cherries, smoky cedary oak, cinnamon and underbrush backed by notes of ginger, citrus and dried herbs. Supple and deeply flavoured, with a luscious core of vibrant small fruit underpinned by genuinely firm but dusty tannins, it extends long and tight knit towards a finish of rare intensity and mouthwatering acidity. Artfull balanced, it will become more savoury and impactful with time.97 POINTS · JEREMY OLIVER.
Winemaking Notes: Hand picked 27th March 2017 De-stemmed to open fermenter (20% whole bunch), short cold soak, natural primary and malolactic fermentation, 26 days on skins, pressed to French oak (20% new). 10 months in oak, racked off lees just prior to bottling. Unfined and unfiltered.
Viticultural Notes: Our Hill Road vineyard and winery is located at Coldstream, 40kms east of Melbourne in Victoria's oldest wine region, the Yarra Valley. Grown on ancient, mountain derived sandy clay loams, these rocky soils, combined with our forty year-old vines from Block 4 are at the heart of this wine. After several warm growing seasons, 2017 was a return to a classic Yarra Valley harvest producing balanced, elegant wines with wonderful natural acidity
