Rochford Estate Pinot Gris 2018

Regular: $30.00
Varietal: Pinot Gris 100%
Vintage: 2018
Cellaring: 3-4 years
Alcohol: 13.2% Alcohol
Blush in colour with poached pear/apple characters filling the medium bodied palate. Crisp freshness to finish.
Tasting Notes: Wild, creamy and faintly meaty aromas of apple blossom and citrus notes precede a moderately long, textural and savoury palate whose flavours of Jonathan apple, raspberries, cherries and citrusy notes overlies a fine, pithy spine and finish with a faint sweetness. It’s likely to build considerably with time in the bottle.
Winemaking Notes: Hand-picked 15th March 2018.De-stemmed, crushed, 48 hours on skins, the oxidised juice was then pressed with full solids to aged French oak. Natural primary and malolatic fermentation.Racked 6 months after ferment and assembled prior to bottling.
Viticultural Notes: Situated in a north facing natural Amphitheatre, the vineyard this wine comes from is sheltered from the prevailing westerly weather which contributes to the long mild autumns - ideal for the slow, even ripening required to produce grapes of elegant and complex flavour. The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers in the Yarra Valley. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditions with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines at lower alcohol levels.
