Tasting Notes:
Elegant and shapely, with a floral scent of grapefruit, melon and subtle oak lifted by notes of lemon zest, cinnamon and ginger. Remaining taut and streamlined, its generous palate of juicy flavour and creamy, nougat-like undertones is underpinned by a fine chalkiness and is wrapped in a mouthwatering, lemony acidity. Finishing with length and restraint, it leaves a lingering mineral note.
Winemaking Notes:
Hand-picked in February and March.Crushed and pressed with full solids, straight to oak (20% new) natural fermentation, stirred when needed.10 months on lees in French oak before being racked and blended in preparation for bottling.
Viticultural Notes:
Grown on our Isabella’s vineyard in Gruyere, Hill Road Vineyard and the Swallowfield Vineyard, Gembrook in Upper Yarra, it is the combination of terroir combined with forty year-old vines that are at the heart of this wine.
The 2018 harvest will be remembered fondly by winemakers in the Yarra Valley. It was a rare season that gave above average yields and excellent quality fruit. Dry sunny conditions with cool overnight temperatures provided good natural acidity and concentrated wines at lower alcohol levels.
