Rochford Single Vineyard 'Terre' Pinot Noir 2021
RRP: $70.00
‘Terre’ translates from French to ‘Earth’ and relates to the shallow soil profile over a seam of granite bedrock under the vines from which this wine is made.
Tasting Notes:
Fruit is sourced from the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock, and there’s plenty of that terroir character on show here! Aromas of red cherries and plum, truffle and warm earth. Theres a great mineral note as well as some dried herb / rose perfume. The tannin is ferrous and gels nicely with the wild berries and forest floor vibes.
Winemaking Notes:
Hand-picked on the 19th of March
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit was partially destemmed as whole berries, with 30% as whole bunches. A short cold soak prior to fermentation and on skins for 15 days. The wine was pressed to French oak (25% new) for malolactic conversion on lees and in oak for 10 months.
Viticultural Notes:
Pinot Noir clone MV6
The fruit for this Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard in Woori Yallock.
2021 was a welcome return to ideal growing conditions here in the Yarra Valley. A prolonged, classical season allowed for brilliant definition of flavour across our range.
